Freedom and Chaos had a Baby: Beyond The Streets Exhibition and the Power of Art in Public Space.

“Graffiti is the bastard child of freedom and chaos,” says Roger Gastman, the Curator of the current art exhibition, Beyond the Streets in Los Angeles, California. Roger is an Author, Film maker, Graffiti historian, an Urban Anthropologist, and has combined these disciplines curate a monumental show that blasts a 40,000 square foot spotlight on the power of graffiti, street art, guerrilla gardening, and skateboarding. The exhibition shows how appropriating public space to create art subverts society’s norms, expectations, and controls while extolling the human spirit.
