The Honorable Art of Mastering Your Love

A few years ago, a friend of mine recommended the documentary, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, which is a film about about the life, art, and philosophy of 85-year-old Japanese sushi master Jiro Ono. it is a powerful glimpse into the life of an artist in the context of Japan, food, and the idea of becoming a master at one’s passion. I highly recommend the film, which can be viewed on Netflix, and I will leave you with one of the many salient quotes form the film,

“Once you decide on your occupation… you must immerse yourself in your work. You have to fall in love with your work. Never complain about your job. You must dedicate your life to mastering your skill. That’s the secret of success and is the key to being regarded honorably.”
